The NHS would like to reassure local residents that the NHS 111 urgent care service in south Essex is working well and that patients can be confident of getting a good quality service. It stresses that patients calling the number over the busy bank holiday period received a speedy and efficient service.
As of 19 March 2013, NHS Direct is no longer available in south Essex. NHS 111 is now available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and all calls are free, including from mobiles. NHS 111 will assess you, provide advice and direct you straight away to the local service that can help you best.

Colds and flu affect 15 million people each year in the UK and are much more common in the winter months. As part of Self Care Week 2012, Castle Point and Rochford Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is helping to raise awareness of how people can prepare for these illnesses, what they can do if they get ill and when they need to see the doctor.
