GP Practice Awards need your nominations

Following the success of previous events, the local NHS is once again asking for your help to recognise good work and the best people in our GP surgeries in the Quality Awards 2019.

It is estimated that over 4,000 appointments take place every day in GP practices across south east Essex.  Most of us never get to hear about the positive stories, the staff that go the extra mile for their patients. It is true to say many of them save lives every day of the week.

From GPs, nurses, pharmacists and health care assistants on the front lines of health care, to reception staff and vital clerical roles supporting people day-to-day, these awards are open to everyone working in GP Practices that helps make a difference to the health of people in south east Essex.

With rising demands, a growing population and problems recruiting, GP practice staff are constantly under pressure. Attracting staff to work in the practices is not easy.

So we can recognise staff and practices who, despite the on-going pressures, continue to deliver an excellent service to their patients, the local NHS is launching the ‘Quality Awards 2019’ – celebrating excellence in our GP surgeries.

Tricia D'Orsi, Chief Nurse at NHS Castle Point & Rochford and NHS Southend Clinical Commissioning Groups said:

“We hear so many wonderful stories about how staff have gone the extra mile for patients. There is outstanding work, care, innovation and services being delivered every day in south east Essex, and it is important to focus on the people who have worked so hard and to share best practice with others and give recognition where it is richly deserved.

“Last year’s event shone the spotlight on the people who are really making a difference and who have gone that extra mile to set a fine example to others and we look forward to recognising the 2019 winners.”

Last year’s winner of the ‘People's Choice’ awards, which were nominated by the public went to Carol Johnson from Queensway Surgery, Southend and Julie Borton from Oaklands Surgery, Canvey
